Abstract. One of the advantages of vehicles with a combined power type, comprising a heat engine and the electric drivetrain is the use of adaptive management, in which the elements of the energy plants operate in modes optimized for the selected index. In this paper we consider a vehicle with a diesel engine as a source of energy and electric transmission, including the generator and traction motors driving the wheels. The authors had the task to develop the driving algorithm ensuring work for diesel modes with the best efficiency.

The paper proposes several methods of controlling the vehicle, providing work for the characterization of diesel minimal fuel consumption. To investigate the control options in the design stage of the vehicle, the mathematical model of the power plant and computer simulation program management processes were developed. Verification of the developed model, conducted by the results of bench tests, confirmed the possibility of its use to generate control algorithms at power plants. The simulation of different management options of vehicle operating conditions has influence on the characteristics of diesel minimal fuel consumption. The dynamic processes change the basic parameters of the vehicle for the considered control. These simulation results of energy management options allow reasonably come to the formation of vehicle control algorithms which optimize the efficiency of diesel engine.

Key words: diesel, electric drivetrain, management processes, diesel efficiency, simulation.
